Thermal Insulation Systems

Thermal solutions designed for building performance

Thermal insulation systems selected according to the building's requirements, the substrate and the surrounding details, to improve thermal performance, protect the envelope and reduce heat transfer.

  • Spray Foam
  • Roofs, Walls & Slabs

01

Overview

Thermal insulation is selected for the assembly it sits in. Board type, thickness and position are coordinated with the waterproofing, drainage and wearing layers on roofs, and with the adjoining walls, slabs and perimeters elsewhere, so the thermal layer does not create new interfaces to fail.

On roofs, insulation is laid with screeds to falls, separation layers and protection so the build-up drains and can be walked and maintained. On walls, partitions and perimeters, continuity at junctions matters as much as the insulation value of the board itself.

Installation is sequenced with the trades around it and inspected before it is covered, because gaps, compression and damaged boards cannot be corrected once the next layer is in place.

Typical Applications

  • Roof and podium insulation within waterproofing build-ups
  • Wall, partition and perimeter insulation
  • Slab and floor insulation
  • Screeds to falls over thermal layers

Materials & Systems

  • Extruded polystyrene (XPS) board
  • Expanded polystyrene (EPS) board
  • Spray-applied polyurethane foam
  • Polymer-modified cementitious systems
